Beaver Hall

I spent last weekend in Montreal with six wonderful friends, including one very excited bride-to-be. Before things got too crazy we got all dolled up & headed to Beaver Hall for dinner.

Having only been to Montreal to catch flights I wasn't familiar with its restaurant scene. I wanted to pick the perfect dinner spot but all I had to go on was the City of Montreal's website, Trip Advisor, & my research skills.

Based on reviews & the menu, I made reservations at Beaver Hall & I couldn't have been happier. Everyone's meals were delicious, the service was superb, & the menu was budget friendly - all in all, a wonderful, mouth-watering experience!

Enjoy looking through our meals... hopefully you don't drool on your screen! :)

The Strawberries Taste Like Strawberries

Strawberries are one of my all-time favourite fruits. They are versatile & can be found in your grocery store all year round. However, the best tasting strawberries are locally grown & hand-picked!
Today I was inspired by the deep, bright red berries that just scream juicy flavour & the hot, sunny weather we have coming up this weekend.

Strawberry Spritz
16 strawberries (give or take a few, depending on size)
2 limes
1/4 cup of white sugar
6 ounces of vodka or gin
Tonic Water or Club Soda
4 tall glasses

Roughly muddle 12 strawberries with the juice of 1 lime & 1 tsp of white sugar. I simply used a bowl & spoon to do this but splatter warning: the juicier the berries, the greater your chance of stains so wear an apron!

Zest half a lime & add to sugar on a small plate. Rim your glasses with remaining sugar/lime mixture.

Add crushed ice to your glasses, & divide the muddled strawberries among the glasses evenly. Splash in your vodka & top with the tonic & a squeeze of lime juice.

Use remaining berries & lime as garnishes.

Alter measurements to your own tastes. I also think adding mint & rum would make this a delicious twist on a mojito too.

An easy, breezy strawberry bevvy!... Or strawbevvy!
Great paired with sunshine, friends, & a light snack. Also a perfect drink to sip on over Canada Day weekend!

Enjoy responsibly & have a wonderful weekend!

Sunday

Sundae Fundae

Sunday night dinner just isn't right without a little dessert. But after a hot day spent at the cottage I did not feel like turning on the oven. Instead, I picked up a few family favorites to use in a quick & easy classic.

Sunday Sundaes

You'll need:
Your favourite vanilla ice cream
Your favourite chocolate bar, nuts, or anything that can be used as a coating
Your favourite garnish
A coffee grinder or food processor

Buzz up your toppings with a grinder or processor to your desired fineness. I find it's nice to have some bigger pieces to add texture & crunch.
Scoop your ice cream (with a scoop that has been dipped in warm water) & roll in toppings.
Place in bowls, add your garnishes, & Bon appetite!

This little dessert takes five minutes to prepare & allows you to get creative with flavours. My toppings included Smarties, After Eight, Cadbury Hoey Roasted Cashews & Hazelnuts, & ground coffee beans & toffee.

Sunday Sundaes will be a hit, plus will give you more time to spend with your family & a glass of wine!
